When the Teen Years Start Changing the Conversation

Independence grows. Guidance is questioned. Emotions run higher. Conversations that once felt easy can start to feel complicated.

Coaching provides practical tools, perspective
and better ways to respond—so the relationship
stays strong while both of you grow.

If the Same Conversations Keep Repeating, You Are Not Alone

A question becomes an argument.

A boundary triggers a reaction.

Concern turns into criticism.

Your teen shuts down or pushes back.

You end the day drained and uncertain.

Emotional Steadiness

Staying steady enough to think clearly when emotions are strong.

Seeing more than your first interpretation of what is happening.

Communication

Narrative Discipline

Resposibility & Ownership

Recognizing your part in the situation and acting from accountability rather than blame.

Self-Awareness

Deep Listening

Hearing the concern, fear, need, or confusion beneath the words or tone.

Decision Discipline

Knowing when to hold firm, when to pause, and when to revisit.

Repair

Coming back after a difficult moment without pretending it didn’t happen.

The teen years do not have to be a guessing game.

How We Work Together

I will always be supportive and caring, but I will also be honest with you.
I will ask questions and give you room to think, but when I see something that may be useful, I will say so. I may offer another perspective, challenge an assumption, help you think through a choice, explain an idea, or teach and practice a skill.
What we do depends on you, the situation, and what would be most useful.
The whole arc of a situation
Whenever possible, we work on how to prepare beforehand, handle yourself while it is happening, and respond afterward.
A deliberate focus on Meta-Skills
Our work will typically include a deliberate focus on strengthening important Meta-Skills—including self-awareness, managing reactions, reading people and situations accurately, sound decision-making, communication, and learning from experience.
These foundational meta-skills help narrow the gap between knowing what to do and being able to do it when it matters.
