Coaching for Intellectually Gifted Teens
Helping you understand yourself more clearly—and handle pressure, decisions, relationships, and expectations with greater steadiness and confidence.
Being intellectually gifted can create real opportunity. It can also make life more complicated.
You may learn quickly, think deeply, or notice things other people miss. You may also overthink, become bored, put things off, feel pressure to live up to your potential, or become frustrated when something does not come easily.
"You can be highly capable in one part of your life and still feel uncertain, overwhelmed, unmotivated, or misunderstood in another."
That does not make you lazy, difficult, or less gifted. It means your abilities and the skills needed to carry them are still developing—and they do not always develop at the same rate.
This Is Not About Fixing You
Coaching is not about making you more impressive, more productive, or easier for other people to manage.
The Coaching Approach
A confidential, respectful place to slow things down and talk honestly about what is happening.
No Performance Required
What You Can Strengthen Through Coaching

- Stay engaged when emotions run high instead of shutting down.
- Communicate more clearly with parents, teachers, peers, and other adults.
- Turn your ideas and abilities into action-and follow through.
- Handle criticism, mistakes and setbacks without losing confidence
- Build a stronger identify beyond intelligence, talent and achievement
How Meta-Skills Help
Meta-Skills help keep your judgment, perspective, and abilities available when pressure, emotion, uncertainty, or conflict might otherwise interfere.
“Knowing what to do and being able to use what you know in a difficult moment are not always the same.”
Strengthening Your Ability To:
- Notice what is happening inside you before the reaction takes over.
- Stay steadier when pressure or emotion rises.
- Listen accurately, even when feedback is difficult to hear.
- Separate facts from assumptions and mental stories.
- Take another person’s perspective without losing your own.
Looking for Coaching for a Parent?
A separate pathway helps parents understand difficult patterns, communicate more effectively, and support growth without adding unnecessary pressure.
Your Coaching Is Confidential
If talking with your parent could help, we discuss it first and decide together what, if anything should be shared. The only exception is a rare situation in which I believe you or someone else maybe in serious danger.
Coaching Options
One-on-One Coaching
Private sessions focused on the situations you are actually facing-pressure, perfectionism, motivation, confidence, relationships, difficult decisions and what you want for yourself.
Cohort Coaching
A small, carefully guided group for intellectually gifted teens who maybe dealing with some of the same pressures and challenges. Private individual coaching is also included for each participant.
Coaching Is Available for Parents of Intellectually Gifted Teens
Raising an intellectually gifted teen comes with unique joys and unique challenges. Parent coaching is separate from your teen’s coaching. It helps you communicate more effectively, set appropriate boundaries, support your teen’s growth, and handle the pressures and decisions that come with their exceptional abilities.
